Is there anyone here willing to place a call to see if we can get someone to come around and take out the trash?

So .... there we have it .... I'm called trash :lol::lol:.... a direct personal insult.

But how can I respond? .... I'm only allowed to post if I say something nice .... otherwise my posts are censored .... even though they don't contain direct personal insults.

"I'm only allowed to post if I say something nice"

Not so.

I put up lots of posts that are not "nice." I bet if you took a poll you would find that there are lots of community members that would say that it is not nice for me to regularly say that the conventional methodology studies are analytically invalid for purposes of determining SWRs. I continue to say it all the same.

I say nice stuff when I think the community needs to hear nice stuff. I say not-so-nice stuff when I think the community needs to hear not-so-nice stuff.

The distinction you need to be thinking about, KenM, is the distinction between constructive and non-constructive. Are you trying to solve the problem or are you trying in inflame it? Begin asking yourself that question each time before you push the "Submit" button and you will probably be returning to the right track.

I don't want you to go, KenM. I want you to stay. But I want the community to thrive more than I want you to stay. When you put your personal inclination to act out above the community's need for a serious discussion of the serious issues at stake here, you do us harm. I don't like that. When I am able to take the time to craft a post saying so, I do.

We all should be doing a whole bunch more of that, in my view. When we let people know where the lines are, they follow them. When the community reveals weakness re protecting its own rights and interests, there are posters who take advantage.

The best way to keep these people around is not to placate them. The best policy is firmness re reasonable rules. We need to make clear what the lines are and we need to make clear in unmistakable terms that the lines will not be crossed.

That's pretty much it. That would do it.

Hi kenm. Some people are more equal than others.

Yes, you better shut up, kenm. If you document hocus2004's inanities, some might call them idiocies, then you are posting in bad faith/not ready to discuss the realities of SWRs/blahblahblah.

Interesting how so many of those who essentially created this place are leaving in droves.

Like, FMO, I'm afraid I'm short on time...

Greetings Ken :)

I'll edit the offending post. Please send me a message if you find any others and I'll take any necessary action. My apologies for missing that one.

In the future perhaps you could send me a PM if you find a post violating site rules. I'd appreciate it.

Greetings wanderer :)

It amazes me how someone with the ability to post so brilliantly can fall flat on his face when addressing any emotional issue. :roll:I've bent over backwards for you wanderer and this is what I get? If you can't post on a subject without name calling please don't post at all.

I'd hardly call a handful of posters a "drove". What constructive purpose does this comment serve? Does it help our site? Does it help me?
