SamCooke1961 wrote: hocus has been banned from participation at the NFB site (NoFeeBoards.com) because of board reaction to his postings re the SWR matter! El Supremo, site owner, informed hocus of this action in an e-mail sent late Thursday afternoon.

El Supremo did not charge hocus with any violations of site rules. He instead cited pressure brought to bear on him from NFB site community members. Several board members stopped participating in board discussions after ES put up several posts a week ago saying that he would begin enforcing the site rules in an even-handed manner.

hocus has informed El Supremo that he will address the role played by the NFB board community and by ES himself in blocking reasoned discussion of the realities of SWRs in writings he will put to his future web site, tentatively scheduled to go up in May 2004. hocus has asked JWR1945 to join him in working on the various initiatives he has planned for next year re the Great SWR Debate and to disassociate himself from the NFB site. JWR1945 has not announced his plans.

Sorry, all of the trademark bolded names didn't come through on my cut-and paste.

LOL. I won't be posting here much for a while, but you just made me spit out my noodle soup, raddr. (some - apparently all liquid - exited thru my nostrils.)

blocking reasoned discussion of the realities of SWRs

I wonder how "SamCooke" would know all that stuff.

The games continue...

wanderer,

Great to see you back! Don't be a stranger, now.

Yes it is kinda funny that "Sam" would know the details. I didn't even know the entire timeline and I was one of the prime instigators in the banning. Perhaps Sam is clairvoyant, no?

and who can forget the bolding of names!

re: hanging out here: I've already slipped and posted on the Bogle thread that has morphed to the topic of: 'the inscrutability of women'. Again,

LOL from an exchange on tmf:

I'd say from all the bolding and the fact that this is SamCooke1961's first and only posting that hocus has a new screen name.
I dunno. Sam Cooke wrote this song in 1961"
That's it I quit I'm movin' on

Don't think hocus is that smart.

All kidding aside, whatever your opinion of "Sam's" banning here at NFB is, it's really nice to see the boards back to normal now. The cancer has been excised and the patient is doing much better. :D

It wouldn't surprise me if he tried. I don't think that ES would have too much patience with him if he does sign up under an alias, though.

W, I'm envisioning you with noodles hanging out of your nostrils. LOL!

You all are just going to have to knock it off. The soup-noodle-nostril imagery is just too vivid.

ck -

I credited raddr. i should've credited samcooke, who raddr merely quoted. I don't recommend expelling noodle soup, or even broth, that way.

it would have much easier if I was merely a disembodied skull, like JSM.

A Change Is Gonna Come
(Sam Cooke)
As Performed Sam Cooke (1964)

I was born by the river in a little tent
And just like the river, I've been running ever since
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come

It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die
I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come

I go to the movie, and I go downtown
Somebody keep telling me "Don't hang around"
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come

Then I go to my brother and I say, "Brother, help me please"
But he winds up knocking me back down on my knees

There've been times that I've thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come

so I guess attempts to popularize hocus' "insights" about swr is equivalent to the struggle for civil rights in the south?
