At the NFB board ataloss queried whether nfb rules covered the following
Though technically different from flaming, which is an unmistakable direct personal attack, trolls often resort to innuendo or misdirection in the pursuit of their objective, which is to create controversy for its own sake, discredit those with whom they disagree, or sabotage discussion by creating an intimidating atmosphere.
ES's response was
Folks, when you learn how to read minds and can tell me with 100% certainty you know what someone else is thinking when they post then the above statment might mean something. Otherwise IMO it's crap and I have better things to do.
I have indicated to ES offline that although some action has been taken over the recent situation I am disappointed that it has not sufficiently addressed the root of the problem. Specifically, it would appear that ES is not prepared to ackowledge that
both derogatory remarks
and troll-like behaviour had occurred and that
both would not be tolerated in the future. In that case it would appear to me that there is a high probability of troll-like behaviour reoccurring as I have seen happen three times in the last 6 months or so. I have a strong aversion to similar such anti-social, boorish behaviour in other aspects of my life and, as a matter of principle, refuse to ignore or excuse it and have no wish to be associated with it - if it is generally "tolerated" with a shrug-of-the-shoulders, can't-do-much-about-it, pretend-it's-not-there attitude or it's excused because the instigator "can't-help-it" then I walk away as quickly as possible - and internet boards especially so.
ES has put a considerable amount of effort into NFB and I respect his opinions on how he wishes to administer the boards. Equally, I'm sure, he respects my strongly held opinion on this issue and will respect my request to delete my name from the list of members when I shortly ask him to do so in a pm.
