I couldn't delete my posts so I edited out the content on a couple. If jwr doesn't want people to know that his retirement is based on a inflation indexed government pension rather than some market timing strategy- why sould I care?

I guess that goes for everyone old buddy. I notice you haven't tried to reason with hocus regarding dredging up the past. I know the reason of course- you can't reason with hocus. Hocus is essentially the anti-intercst. If intercst didn't exist hocus wouldn't. Hocus can't post on his own sub-board ...

kenM is easily baited, he is reacting not just to what has been written in the past few days but to the relation of that content to the past context. As jwr has said "Kenm is light years ahead." we can see kenm and raddr's response but how many others will just drift away from the ranting....

probably I am the only one amused by hocus quoting altoflaco from tmf in his defense and including: Instead of mocking him, however, perhaps we could just recognize that he is not well and leave him to tilt at windmills? Why not remember instead that in his more lucid moments, hocus wrote persuasive...

ES, speaking of digging up the past have you noticed the number of references to intercst in hocuses posts at the "research" board? LOL

Also amusing to see a list of greatest hits of "good hocus" posts from tmf mostly dating from before the great debate jihad

IIRC, salaryguru pretty much exposed the hoco-logic over at the dory 36 boards: The really funny thing was that there was this fellow SalaryGuru who tore all of the hoco-logic into tiny little bits. And hocus didn't have the excuse of claiming that there was disruption or deception or ridicule or pe...

More on new members knowing nothing

Clearly TH hasn't read and would have no reason to care about the 18 months of nonsense that we went through with hocus on this board. Similarly please excuse me for my lack of interest in his thoughts on getting along based on what he has seen in a couple of days. He would not appreciate that ES's ...

ES, after the last hocus fiasco that lead to his banning I think it was anticipatable that people would leave if he returned. I think the loss of FMO is a real blow to NFB. It was nice to have an interlude free of the unpleasantness and name calling from the hocus era. I set up an alternative board ...

but it is that way ES, look at the first hocus2004 post. He is right anyone who disagrees is playing word games or doesn't understand. There was an amusing exchange over at the dory36 board hocus wanted to argue about whether his cd/tips portfolio was fixed income or not. Anyway, I will be posting o...

I have got to thank hocus for the link to this thread at the dory 36 boards: When I worked in a psychiatric setting I was on a treatment team consisting of physicians and other professionals. We always had one or two patients who behaved in a "passive-aggressive" manner. These folks consum...

Forbes had an article in the 5/24 issue pointing out that electricity in a hybrid costs 60 cents/kwh when generated by the engine vs 8.5 cents for resedential electric and less for off peak (where avaiable) so if configured for home recharging a hybrid could cost less to run and save its expensive p...

Saudi Arabia is like a crack dealer. Price the product too high, and customers won't be able to afford the product and might even kick the habit. "We've got almost 30% of the world's oil," says Adel al-Jubeir, foreign-policy adviser to Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah. "For us, the object...

I'm wondering if it should be renamed the "SWR comedy board"? I second the motion A non-retired ataloss might renew efforts on the dictionary to convert "swr board terminology" to English. I have noticed that when jwr says I have made a misstatement it can generally be translate...

jwr doesn't seem to like my idea for the disclaimer post. since he has made hundreds of posts about 30 year safe withdrawal rates for various stock switching stratagies I thought it might be of interest that he doesn't base his retirement on any such approach. somehow my statement that he doesn't us...
